7 As the use of AI accelerates in businesses large and small, rapid adoption creates both opportunity and risk. AI systems handle sensitive data and generate outputs with human impact. ISO 42001 was developed by the<a>International Organization for Standardization (ISO)</a>as the first international standard that governs how organizations build, deploy, and oversee AI systems.

8 To achieve ISO 42001 certification, Checkr underwent an intensive multi-stage audit process conducted by the accredited third-party auditor A-Lign to verify our implementation of AI systems meeting strict international standards for responsible AI governance. Our continued certification requires that we regularly provide extensive AI systems documentation, and demonstrate continuous improvement in our AI systems controls and risk management practices.

9 In addition to ISO 42001, Checkr holds a wide array of<a>certifications for data security</a>, operational rigor, and ethical practices, including<a>ISO 27001</a>and SOC 2. We’re compliant with regulations and standards such as<a>FCRA</a>, CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, PIPEDA, and Privacy Shield, and we’re an accredited member of leading industry organizations such as the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA).
