Checkr works with state and county courts, DMVs, industry databases, and other third parties to complete your background checks. Some of these parties impose surcharges to the public to retrieve records, including those listed below. These surcharges are included on your invoice as non-marked up, third-party fees.

You are responsible for paying any withholding, sales, value-added, or other taxes, duties, or charges applicable to service fees.

Some state and county courts charge a fee to retrieve criminal records; all DMVs charge fees to retrieve driving records.

The Pennsylvania State Police charges a $22 fee to access the Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) database.

Third-party database fees: Some employment checks require information from external databases. Which database we use depends on where the information is stored. These fees are charged by the database provider and range from $17.95-$119.95.

Instant Database fee: Our proprietary Instant Database contains payroll and employment records. Accessing it costs $63, a one-time fee no matter how many times we use it. If you’re verifying a candidate with multiple past employers, this fee can be combined with applicable third-party database fees to complete the verification.

Credentials are generally confirmed through the National Student Clearinghouse which holds most education records; alternative third-party databases may be necessary to complete certain verifications. The choice of database depends on the school, with passthrough fees set by each institution; fees range from $3.95-$50.00.

Clinics with expanded hours are available for post-hire drug testing scenarios, including random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident. A $90 after hours fee applies when a test is administered Monday through Friday between 7pm-7am and Saturday or Sunday.

The Department of Transportation has specific sources which are used for some employment verifications; fees range from $7.00-$70.00.

Some provinces charge a fee to retrieve driving records, which includes Canada MVR with history checks.
There are no passthrough fees for Canada MVR checks.

Passthrough fees for international criminal and adverse media checks are included in the screening price. You will not be billed a separate passthrough fee for these searches.

Continuous Crim pricing is inclusive of passthrough fees. You will not be billed a separate passthrough fee for Continuous Crim.
