Learning the divisibility rule will help kids to master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 537.

1. Know the multiples of 537:

Memorize the multiples of 537 (537, 1074, 1611, 2148, etc.) to quickly check divisibility. If the result from subtraction is a multiple of 537, then the number is divisible by 537.

2. Use the negative numbers:

If the result we get after subtraction is negative, we will avoid the symbol and consider it as positive for checking the divisibility of a number.

3. Repeat the process for large numbers:

Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a small number that is divisible by 537.
For example: Check if 2685 is divisible by 537 using the divisibility test.

Multiply the last digit by 2, i.e., 5 × 2 = 10.

Subtract the remaining digits excluding the last digit by 10, 268–10 = 258.

258 is still a large number, so we repeat the process: multiply the last digit by 2, 8 × 2 = 16.

Now subtract 16 from the remaining numbers, 25–16 = 9.

Since 9 is not a multiple of 537, 2685 is not divisible by 537.

4. Use the division method to verify:

Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
